How long does Invisalign actually take for most patients? I have mildly crooked front teeth I’d like to correct…and I’m considering Invisalign to accomplish this.
Thanks,
Laura
Hi Laura,
It depends on the amount of orthodontic correction needed. In most cases, 10 to 12 months is the average length of Invisalign treatment. We can correct minor spacing issues or crookedness in less than 10 months while more complicated cases can last longer than a year. During your consultation, we will give you a general time frame and cost for your treatment so you know what to expect. There are many factors that can lengthen your treatment time though, so you have to work with us to ensure you have the best smile possible!
For example, clear aligners must be worn at all times, for 20-22 hours a day, and can only be taken out when you’re eating. We need you to make sure you are wearing your aligners as often as possible, otherwise, your treatment will take longer. We find that patients who follow our guidelines exactly see faster results than patients who don’t!
During your appointment, we will go over other rules of Invisalign to ensure that they are the right fit for you and your lifestyle. If there is another orthodontic method we think might suit your needs better, we can discuss those options with you at our office. We are excited to help you achieve your smile goals.
