Your initial visit at Midtown Dentistry begins the foundation for our patient-provider relationship with you. During this visit, we gather relevant information, about your dental history and allow you time to express your concerns to our doctor and team members.

As directed during your initial phone contact with our patient coordinator, you are able to complete your New Patient Forms prior to the visit. Listed below are some key items that will fully prepare you for your dental visit with us

New Patient Visit

The initial exam is very thorough, please be prepared to spend a minimum of 90 minutes with us. This visit will include a complete review of your medical and dental history; we will also take all the necessary x-rays, intraoral and extraoral photos. We will provide oral cancer screening, periodontal health evaluation, and examination of your teeth and soft tissues. Following this exam, Dr. Saint Jean will discuss the findings with you and develop a treatment plan addressing your short and long term dental needs.

Once the examination is completed, if time allow or there is no periodontal disease or any other dental condition which prevents it, we may be able to provide a professional dental cleaning the same day. However it is often necessary to have patient return for the professional cleaning.

X-rays

We recommend that you bring all current radiographs from previous dentist (this includes bitewings x-rays taken within the previous year as well as Panoramic or FMX series taken within the previous 5 years). As current x-rays are necessary to complete a comprehensive exam and provide accurate diagnostic, if they are not available or covered by your insurance provider, new ones will need to be taken and this can incur out of pocket expenses to you.

You can have digital x-rays forwarded to info@charlottemidtowndentistry.com. Moreover, if you have any condition that requires premedication prior to dental work, please let us know in advance of your appointment. Remember to take all of your prescription medications as prescribed by your physician.

Dental Benefits

As your dental care provider our relationship is with you and not your insurance carrier. As a courtesy, we will verify your coverage and submit claims on your behalf; however it is ultimately the patient responsibility to know their coverage.

Please be advised that most plans include co-payments, deductibles and other expenses which must be paid by the patient and will be collected at the time of the appointment. Dental insurance, in most case, is intended to cover some but not all of the cost of your dental care.

Fees and Payments

We make every effort to provide accurate information regarding patient’s portion of the bill, however these are based on information provided to us by insurance company and they are often incomplete. Our fees are maintained within range with other practitioners in the area so as not to deter patient from getting dental care.

Additionally, we have partnered with Care Credit, Springstone Financial and Arch Advantage which allows many patients the financial freedom and flexibility to afford extensive restorative dental work without stretching their budget.
